Filipinotown was the first of L.A. proper’s great Asian neighborhoods which we visited. It was nice to walk around. Like everywhere else in California, I wish a bit more were open, but at least the weather’s pretty much always nice enough to enjoy the outside.
Sights:
We had a pitaya bowl at Tribal cafe (more known for their acai bowls). What even are these things? I don’t know, but they mix them with some really good fresh fruit.
The funnest place to eat was Dollar Hits. You buy skewers of meats that really do cost a dollar a piece and cook them yourselves on charcoal grills outside. And I finally got to try balut! This is a duck egg with an embryonic duck inside. Eh, it mostly tasted like egg. Oh well.
