Oklahoma City

Just outside of Dallas, on our way to Oklahoma City, we saw these big fiberglass dudes.

This is the kind of thing you stop to look at in this part of the country.

Out west, in general, are lots and lots of windmills. I think they look imposing and majestic.

Most of the U.S. seems to look more or less like this.

Oklahoma City was a nice, flat, friendly place. It is, however, chuck full of these little spiny burrs that stick to everything.

Keeps out the riff-raff.

The city was probably full of culinary highlights, but we really only had time for one: Cheever’s. This fancy-diner-like restaurant was phenomenal. We got the chicken strudel, the cinnamon roll and the chicken-fried steak. The strudel in particular was unique and delicious. The chicken-fried steak, probably their most famous item, was great, with jalapeno-flavored sauce. Finally, a chicken-fried steak that does not taste like all the other ones! If I were back in town, I’d go there again.

Photo of Cheever’s chicken-fried steak courtesy of their website because I accidentally deleted mine. Whatever, they take better pictures than I do anyway.
