San Juan had some great places to eat and drink. Food in Puerto Rico and the the Caribbean in general is good for the taste buds but not the heart.

A couple places in San Juan claim to have invented the piña colada, and some even to have invented getting caught in the rain.

There were plenty of places to get tasty cocktails or beer.

And lots of divey/hipster places with good beer and food.

We also made a special effort to find vegetarian food for some reason in this land of luscious pork!

  • Doesn’t this vegetarian sushi look amazing?
  • Look at the joy it brings.
  • I livened up the vegetarian fare here with a lobster empanada.

Though eventually we found a damn good BBQ place.

We went to two distilleries near San Juan, both on our way around to somewhere else rather than our first time in the capital.

The first was Ron del Barrilito.

And then, the king of them all, Bacardi.
