San Diego

Ashley duped me upon getting to San Diego. At her suggestion, we went to the beach to watch the sunrise. Only when day began to break did I realize – hey – the sun doesn’t come up over the water on the West coast!

We did get to see some surfers braving the cold morning waters, though.

There’s one now!

My favorite living beings in San Diego, however, were the anemones, which we saw in Cabrillo National Monument. The tide pools there are filled with the squishy buggers:

Then we saw the Pine Street Bridge, a cool suspension bridge that wobbles when you cross it, enough to tickle my mild acrophobia.

San Diego also has Balboa Park, which is apparently the country’s largest cultural park. I’m not sure what a cultural park is, but the park did have a lot of various sorts of performers. Random pictures:

We then visited acclaimed author and my good friend Scott Stambach. Ashley and I did some exploring on our own, followed by some Stambach-assisted exploring later on. We took some kratom and jammed, and Ashley and I even performed a recorder duet – competently! For an audience!

And eagle-eyed Ashley found a goody-bag on the street. We definitely didn’t use it… but it definitely looked like about $100 worth of cocaine. Definitely.

San Diego, like L.A. had great food:

Also, hey, this bank looks pretty cool:
