The Villa Romana Casale is a villa from the times of the ancient Romans. No one knows who owned it, but based on its location and its many hunting-themed mosaics, it is usually thought to have been a hunting lodge. The man who owned it must have been very rich indeed, as the lodge had baths, a servants quarters, and a latrine carved of stone.
To reach it, Freddy and Stan would have to bike long and hard deep into Sicily’s mountains. It would be a grueling, multi-day journey. Or … they could pay a van to take them and their bikes! Which is just what they did, merrily chatting in French with the driver all the way.

The villa was thought to be an old hunting lodge based on its design and its mosaics.
The mosaics were astoundingly intricate and beautiful.
The Italians have decided to make sure everyone knows that art didn’t die with the fall of the Western empire, though; they also peppered the area with modern sculptures inspired by classical designs.
