Akureyri

Akureyri, capital of northern Iceland, was the first place I explored in the country.

  • The view from where I stayed.

  • These sorts of things were all around for some reason.

Iceland has these great geothermally heated baths. My first in the country was the Forest Lagoon.

  • I walked across the Fjord to get there.

I saw the natural sights around Akureyri with a couple tours.

  • Where their little Santa Claus gnomes live.

  • The runoff is used for these very sulphury Myvatn baths.

Iceland is full of good, hearty food.

My second tour had even more stuff than the first, since the tour guide had his girlfriend with him and wanted to show her some extra sights.

  • The water is warm but they don’t let you swim here anymore.
