Day 19: Into Glasgow
Not eager to bike back on those major highways, I had my bike-rental-picker-upperer come to get my bike in Stirling and took a morning train into Glasgow – Scotland’s party central. My days were, by design, more relaxing than the rest of my trip; mostly eating and drinking.
Glasgow was a much more modern looking city than Edinburgh. Industrial, one might say.

It’s full of interesting and quirky places, like Buck’s Bar, a punk/rock bar that specializes in fried chicken sandwiches.

It did have a couple great whisky bars – you say what you like, and they give you something. Scotland does have great Scotch. The Pot Still is one of the two best whisky bars in Glasgow. (What’s the best? No spoilers!)

Day 20: Fancy food for fancy folks
This day I actually went to the gym! Pay online, get your code, go on in. Pretty good. Check out this weird gate where you put in your code to enter.

The big event for today was a meal at Unalome, a one star Michelin restaurant. To get there I had lovely stroll through Kelvingrove Park.
Arriving at Unalome, the food was delicious, drink pairings on point and service excellent. In my opinion they are well on their way to a second Michelin Star.
And I finished my day with my favorite whisky bar in Scotland: The Bon Acord.

Day 21: A breakfast sandwich
On this day I had a breakfast sandwich and drank Buckfast, a tonic wine popular in Alba.

Day 22: Grand finale
And on this day I ate more food and bought more whisky! Ta-da!

Here are all the delicious whiskys I bought to take home:

Isle of Raasay: Surprisingly good for such a young whisky! Only three or four years old, moderately peated.
Robert Graham Glen Ord 2007: From a bottler, and very funky.
McCallum Glenrothes: From a bottle, matured in port casks, full of red fruit flavors and bright red in the glass too. A real gem
North Star Blenrothes: Again from a bottler, and exclusive to The Good Spirits Co. in Glasgow. Fiery strong and malty. You know you’re drinking something and you know it’s good. (I think I had to prove I knew my stuff before they let me sample this one).
Deanston 2008: TBD! I bought it because that sampler pack was so damn good.
Glen Scotia Limited Edition 8 year: TBD! Bought because a Scot in Good Spirits Co. identified me as a “fellow whisky nerd” and recommended it
Robert Graham Ledaig: TBD!
